Adan

Adan is commonly the unaccented spelling of Spanish Adán, the Spanish form of Adam. Adam is connected with the Hebrew word for a human being and, in the biblical narrative, with adamah, “ground” or “earth.” That provides a firmer explanation than presenting the expanded phrase “son of the red earth” as a literal translation. Adán preserves the Spanish written indication of stress.

The name's brief spelling gives it a direct connection to Adam without using the same final consonant. It should not automatically be confused with Aidan or assigned that name's fire meaning: similar spelling can conceal separate histories. Families using Adan through another language may have a different intended connection, but the Spanish Adam tradition is the clearest starting point for this form.
