Alessa

Alessa is an Italian short form associated with Alessandra, the feminine form of Alessandro. The older Greek Alexander family combines a defending element with a word for people or men, producing the familiar defender interpretation. Alessa carries that history in a shorter form with a softer ending.

It can be used as a full first name or as an affectionate form within a family. Alessandra offers the more formal relative, while Alessa keeps enough of the original shape to make the connection recognizable. For someone honoring an Alessandro or Alessandra, it provides a direct family relationship without requiring the longer name in everyday use, and its Italian spelling gives the tribute a particular linguistic character.
