Alianna

Alianna is a modern spelling of Aliana with a second “n.” Several longer names have been suggested as possible relatives, but there is no single firmly established origin that gives Alianna all the meanings sometimes listed for it. Brightness, nobility, softness, and defending people belong to different proposed name families and should not be combined into one definition.

Ali and Anna offer simple ways to shorten the name. Aliana is the closest spelling to compare, while Eliana has its own history despite a similar sound. A family may choose Alianna to echo an Anna or another relative’s name, but that personal connection does not need to be presented as an ancient compound.
