Alita

Alita can be a shortened form of Adelita, a Spanish diminutive in the Adela and Adelaide family. That route leads back to a Germanic element associated with nobility. It offers a compact way to carry the longer name, with the opening A and the distinctive final ita still visible after the middle letters are removed.

The exact spelling also has a separate popular-culture association through the title character of Alita: Battle Angel. That fictional use gives the name another recognizable story without changing the Adelita family's older meaning. A family choosing Alita may be honoring an Adelita, responding to the character, or simply preferring the shorter form; those are distinct personal reasons within the same spelling.
