Amadeo

Amadeo belongs to the Latin Amadeus family, traditionally understood in terms of loving God. It is used in Italian and Spanish contexts, with Amedeo as a closely related Italian form. The religious meaning comes through the Latin elements for love and God rather than through a newly created combination of familiar modern names.

The name has a historical royal association through Amadeo I of Spain, who was born into the Italian royal family. The wider Amadeus family is also familiar through Mozart. Those cultural references give Amadeo a substantial background, while its open ending creates a more flowing form than Amadeus for families who prefer the Italian or Spanish style.
