Amen

Amen comes from the Hebrew expression used to affirm a statement or prayer, commonly understood as “truly” or “so be it.” Its underlying sense involves truth, certainty, and trustworthiness. The word passed into Greek and Latin religious use and is familiar in English through prayers, hymns, and expressions of heartfelt agreement.

As a given name, Amen carries that spoken affirmation into everyday life. It can appeal to a family who wants a direct connection with faith or the idea of expressing hope with conviction. English speakers use more than one pronunciation of the word, so the family's preferred version may need an introduction. Its meaning is already recognizable to many people, making it a particularly explicit spiritual choice rather than a name whose religious background is hidden.
