Anaiah

Anaiah is a biblical Hebrew name meaning “Yahweh has answered.” It combines a root associated with answering and the divine name. That history is separate from Basque anaia, meaning brother, even though the words look similar in Latin letters. A biblical Anaiah appears in Nehemiah, giving the name a specific scriptural connection.

Anaiah has a flowing sequence of vowels, and families may differ in how they pronounce the middle syllable. Ana can be a practical short form, though Ana also has its own separate name history. Parents may choose Anaiah for its religious meaning or as an honor name, while keeping that connection distinct from modern names that merely share its ending.
