Anita

Anita is a Spanish diminutive of Ana, belonging to the Hannah and Anna name family and its meaning “grace.” The ita ending marks the familiar form, which has also become an independent given name. Other language uses of Anita should be considered separately rather than given this meaning automatically.

Jazz singer Anita O’Day and legal scholar Anita Hill are recognizable bearers, while Anita in 101 Dalmatians supplies a fictional association. Ana and Anna offer shorter related forms. Families can choose Anita directly for its established history or use it as an affectionate form of Ana, preserving the same name-family connection without requiring one official arrangement.
