Anniston

Anniston is the name of an Alabama city named in honor of Annie Tyler, the daughter-in-law of one of its founders. In that geographical route, “Annie’s town” explains the name’s construction. It is a particular American place name rather than a generic ancient surname meaning that can be applied to every similar spelling.

The spelling also resembles Aniston, familiar through actor Jennifer Aniston. That surname has a separate family history, so its Greek connections should not be combined with the Alabama place to invent a meaning such as “resurrected town.” Anniston can preserve a connection to the city or simply serve as a longer way to honor an Annie, with the intended story depending on the family.
