Apollo

Apollo is the name of a major Greek god associated with music, prophecy, and healing. The name’s ancient linguistic origin is uncertain, even though translations involving destruction or light are often suggested. Its mythological associations are much better established than any single literal meaning, so those associations form the clearest starting point for its story.

The Apollo space program adds a separate connection with exploration and the Moon, while the Apollo Theater brings a musical one. Apollon is a related Greek form. For parents drawn to mythology, Apollo offers a direct reference rather than a hidden one; it is worth considering which of its several cultural associations feels most personal.
