Arlet

Arlet is a Catalan form associated with French Arlette. Arlette in turn is linked with the older Germanic name Herleva. That name-family connection is more reliable than treating “noble” or “honor” as a simple, settled translation of Arlet's modern spelling.

Arleth is another related form used in Spanish-speaking communities, while Arlette retains the French ending. Arlet keeps a concise two-syllable shape without a final written e. The spelling is also used for a character in the Catalan television series Infidels. A family choosing among these forms may be preserving a language connection or an existing relative's name rather than changing the underlying history.
