Arlett

Arlett is a spelling related to French Arlette, a name whose deeper history is uncertain. Proposed connections with Germanic names appear in naming accounts, but they do not establish that Arlett simply means eagle or strong. It should also not be treated automatically as a shortening of Charlotte merely because the endings resemble one another.

The final double t gives Arlett a compact appearance compared with Arlette. Families may pronounce the ending differently depending on their language, so the preferred sound is worth establishing. Arlie is an optional informal form, although the full name is already concise. A family Arlette connection can supply a clear personal story even when the oldest etymology remains unresolved.
