Astra

Astra is the Latin plural for stars, giving the name a direct celestial meaning. The singular astrum refers to a star or heavenly body, and the same root appears in many words connected with astronomy. Astra therefore evokes the sky through a real classical word rather than through a newly invented space-themed combination.

The name has also found a place in science fiction, including Princess Astra in Doctor Who. That modern association suits its astronomical background without being the reason the word exists. For a family drawn to the night sky, Astra offers a plural sense of stars, distinct from Stella's singular star and from names whose celestial meanings are only traditional associations.
