Astraea

Astraea is a Greek mythological name associated with the stars. In accounts of the ages of humanity, Astraea represents justice and innocence and eventually leaves the earth; she is connected with the constellation Virgo. The story gives the name both a celestial image and an ethical association, although those are different parts of its meaning and mythology.

Renaissance writers also used Astraea as an image for Queen Elizabeth I, connecting the ancient figure with hopes of a renewed golden age. Astraia is another way to render the Greek name in the Latin alphabet. Compared with shorter Astra, Astraea preserves the full mythological form and its specific constellation story.
