Audrina

Audrina is an elaboration of Audrey, a name descended from the Old English Æðelþryð. Its elements combine ideas of nobility and strength. Audrey shortened and softened the older form over time, and Audrina extends it again with a different ending while preserving that inherited meaning.

The longer form gives parents another way to honor an Audrey without repeating the exact name. It also changes the rhythm: Audrina gives more emphasis to the middle of the name, while Audrey is shorter and more clipped. The history behind both reaches back to an English naming tradition that combined meaningful elements into personal names. Audrina brings that substantial background into a later form that may feel more flowing to the ear.
