Avrohom

Avrohom is a form of Abraham reflecting Ashkenazi Hebrew pronunciation. The biblical name is traditionally explained as “father of a multitude,” tied to the account in Genesis in which Abram receives the name Abraham. The name’s significance comes from that covenant story as well as from its individual word elements.

Avraham and Abraham are related forms with different spelling and pronunciation conventions. Avrohom preserves a recognizable family or community tradition rather than being a modern invented combination. Avi can serve as a familiar short form, although families may prefer the full name. Choosing among these forms often reflects how the name is spoken by relatives or in religious life.
