Axle

Axle is both an English word and a spelling related to Axel. The word describes the shaft on which a wheel turns, giving it a direct connection with machines and movement. The personal name Axel has a separate history: it developed from Absalom, a Hebrew name traditionally understood as my father is peace.

Those two routes can overlap in a family's choice without becoming one combined etymology. Someone choosing Axle as an alternative to Axel may value the inherited name connection, while another family may deliberately prefer the mechanical word. The spelling makes the everyday object especially noticeable in English. Comparing the two explanations helps parents decide which story they would want to pass on with the name.
