Aysha

Aysha is a form of the Arabic name Aisha, meaning alive or living. Its religious importance comes from Aisha, a wife of the Prophet Muhammad and an important figure in Islamic tradition. The name’s history is therefore closely tied to a person as well as to an uplifting everyday meaning.

Aisha, Ayesha, and Aysha are different Latin-alphabet representations of the same name family. Their spellings can suggest different vowel sounds to English readers, so a bearer’s preferred pronunciation remains important. Aysha’s y does not create a separate meaning or make the name a new invention. It offers another way to carry an established Arabic name across writing systems.
