Azaria

Azaria is a spelling of Azariah, a Hebrew biblical name meaning Yahweh has helped. The final h is absent, but the connection with the older name remains. Its ending can look similar to many modern names, yet Azaria has a clearer established source than a new combination built only from fashionable sounds.

Azariah is the closest comparison when preserving a familiar biblical spelling matters. Azaria may fit a particular language, family record, or preferred written form. It should also be distinguished from Azalea, the flower name, even though they share several sounds. The resemblance does not give Azaria a botanical origin or change its religious meaning.
