Bennet

Bennet is an English form descended from Benedict, the Latin name meaning blessed. It has a history as both a personal name and a surname, and the single final t is an established spelling rather than an incomplete version of Bennett. The shorter form keeps the original name’s favorable meaning in a compact, familiar shape.

Jane Austen readers will recognize Bennet as the family surname in Pride and Prejudice, linking the spelling with Elizabeth, Jane, and their sisters. That literary association adds a distinct layer to a name whose roots are older than the novel. Bennet can therefore work as a surname tribute, a quieter form of Benedict, or a personal nod to a favorite book.
