Blayke

Blayke is a modern spelling of Blake, an English surname with two possible older descriptive roots. Similar Old English words referred to darkness and to paleness, and different family lines may connect with different ones. That is why both contrasting meanings appear in name references; the spelling alone cannot decide which history belongs to every family.

The surname has a strong literary association through poet and artist William Blake. Blayke keeps that broader name-family connection while making a different choice in its written form. Its added y does not create a new ancient derivation or a separate meaning. For parents, the distinction is mainly visual, while a family surname or particular namesake may provide the more personal reason for choosing it.
