Brenna

Brenna is usually understood either as a form of Brenda or as a feminine development of the Irish surname Brennan. Those routes have different histories, so there is no single secure meaning that covers every use. In the Brennan route, it connects with a surname derived from an older personal name rather than directly with a nature word.

Canadian actress Brenna O’Brien gives the name a recognizable public bearer. Its short shape and doubled n make it distinct from Brenda while keeping a familiar rhythm. A family honoring a Brennan surname can make that relationship explicit, while another may simply prefer Brenna as an established first name without claiming one disputed ancient translation.
