Brittany

Brittany is the English name of the French region called Bretagne in French. Its historical name is associated with the Britons who settled there from Britain, rather than a migration from France that created Britain's name. As a given name, Brittany directly evokes that region and its cultural history.

Britt provides a concise nickname, while Britney and Brittney are related spelling forms. The full name usually has two or three syllables in English, depending on accent and how the middle vowel is spoken. Parents may choose it as a place tribute, a family name, or simply for its familiar sound. The different spellings do not require different explanations of the underlying geographical connection.
