Calliope

Calliope is a Greek name traditionally interpreted as “beautiful voice.” In Greek mythology, Calliope is the Muse of epic poetry, giving the name a specific literary connection as well as a musical-sounding meaning. A calliope is also a musical instrument, though that later use is an association rather than the origin of the personal name.

Callie provides a short everyday option, while Kalliope is an alternative transliteration that keeps the Greek opening consonant visible. English and Greek pronunciations differ, so families may hear more than one version. Trying the full name beside the surname is useful, especially if you plan to alternate between Calliope and the much shorter Callie.
