Cienna

Cienna is a spelling variation of Sienna, the color name associated with a reddish-brown earth pigment. The color’s name is connected with Siena in Italy, so the naming history brings together a place and a material used by artists. Cienna keeps that intended color association in a different written form.

The initial C generally preserves the soft s sound rather than creating a new Italian word. Sienna is the conventional color spelling, while Siena is the city spelling; those distinctions help explain the options without assigning them separate symbolic meanings. Cienna can appeal to a family drawn to the warm color or Italian place connection, but it is a modern given-name adaptation of that background.
