Dani

Dani is a familiar short form in the Daniel name family, whose Hebrew meaning is “God is my judge.” It can be used for Daniel, Daniela, Danielle, or another related form, and it also stands independently as a given name. The meaning comes from that older family rather than from the final i.

Different language communities use Dani for boys or girls, so the spelling alone does not identify one universal tradition. Danny is a useful sound comparison, while the longer forms preserve their own language conventions. Dani keeps the shared opening in a brief two-syllable name without requiring a formal version behind it.
