Dawn

Dawn is an English word name for the first light of the morning. Its meaning comes directly from a familiar natural event, making it one of the clearest choices for families drawn to light or the beginning of a day. Hope and renewal are common personal associations with that image, rather than separate translations of the word.

The name has a substantial twentieth-century history, especially among generations born in the middle of the century. That gives it the possibility of being both a nature name and an honor for a mother or grandmother. Aurora offers a longer name with a similar dawn association, while Dawn itself keeps the everyday English word in a single syllable.
