Deandre

Deandre is a modern name formed around André with an added De opening. André belongs to the Andrew family, ultimately connected with a Greek word for a man and traditionally interpreted as “manly.” The prefix does not automatically make every modern Deandre mean “son of André”; that is a possible family interpretation rather than a universal linguistic rule.

The name has an established place in African American naming and offers a different rhythm from André on its own. Andre or Dre can serve as shorter everyday forms. Spellings with an apostrophe make the components more visible, while Deandre keeps them in one uninterrupted word. Families can choose the version that best reflects their own usage and whether the complete name or a nickname will be used most often.
