Desirae

Desirae is an English spelling related to French Desiree, usually written Désirée in French. The French word means desired or longed for, and its feminine ending is part of the original form. Desirae preserves the same name family while using a different way of representing the final sound in English letters.

The meaning can be especially personal for a family welcoming a much-wanted child, but it does not require a particular story about conception or parenthood. It is a complete established idea in the name's source language. Comparing Desirae with Désirée also shows the difference between adapting a name's spelling and inventing a new etymology: the written form changes, while the older French meaning remains its foundation.
