Divina

Divina comes from the feminine form of the word meaning divine in Spanish and Portuguese, with its roots in Latin divinus. The literal sense concerns what belongs to or comes from the divine. As a personal name, it can express a religious dedication, although an individual family's reason for choosing it may be broader or more personal.

The ending -a reflects the feminine grammatical form; the corresponding adjective is divino. English divine is a relative of the same Latin word, making the meaning recognizable across languages. Divina should be distinguished from Davina, a name in the David family with a different history. Its appeal rests in a complete word and its spiritual associations, rather than in a shortened form of a longer traditional name.
