Dulce

Dulce is a Spanish and Portuguese given name associated with sweetness, ultimately from Latin. In Spanish devotional use it can refer to the sweet name of Mary. That religious phrase gives the name a more specific history than simply treating sweet as a prediction about a child’s character.

English Dulcie is a related comparison with a different ending and pronunciation. Dulce’s spoken form varies between Spanish and Portuguese, so the language context matters when introducing it. The complete name is brief without needing a nickname, and a family may choose it for devotion, heritage, or an existing relative while preserving the same broad word connection.
