Eisley

Eisley began as a surname and is documented as an Americanized form of Swiss German Eisele. The older surname contains a German word for iron and could identify someone who worked with or traded that metal. As a first name, Eisley therefore has an occupational surname background connecting it with an everyday craft material.

That history gives the soft-looking ending a surprisingly substantial meaning. The surname's spelling changed as families and names moved between languages, a process that has produced many modern first-name choices. Eisele and Isley are useful comparisons, though a particular family's surname history may need its own research. Eisley can appeal as a family honor name or for the contrast between its light sound and its association with ironworking.
