Ela

Ela has separate established meanings in different languages. In Turkish it refers to the hazel color, often associated with eyes. In Hebrew, Ela is related to Elah and the terebinth tree. Those are independent linguistic routes, so the tree meaning should not be labeled as Turkish simply because the same three letters are used.

Ela also appears as a short form in some European name traditions, where a longer personal name may determine its meaning. Its resemblance to Ella and Ayla can therefore be useful when comparing spellings but does not establish one universal origin. The original language is especially important for explaining such a compact name, since its simple Latin-letter form can conceal quite different histories.
