Eliane

Eliane is used in Portuguese and corresponds to the French form Éliane. Its name family is commonly traced through Aeliana to the Roman family name Aelius, which is often associated with the Greek word for the sun. That solar interpretation is traditional, rather than a completely certain account of the Roman surname's original derivation.

The similar Hebrew name Eliana has a different explanation, connected with God answering. The two histories should not be merged simply because their spellings are close. A family's intended language and name family help clarify Eliane's background, especially when comparing names that share the same first five letters.
