Eliezer

Eliezer is a Hebrew name combining a reference to God with help. It is commonly understood as “my God is help.” Several biblical figures bear the name, including a son of Moses, so it has a more specific scriptural background than simply resembling other names beginning with Eli. The meaning can express a family’s faith without prescribing the child’s personality.

Eli offers a concise everyday form, while Eliezer keeps the fuller sequence of vowels and consonants. Parents can compare Eleazar carefully: the names are related in theme but are not identical spellings of the same Hebrew formation. Eliezer may particularly appeal when the short form Eli is wanted alongside a distinct longer biblical name.
