Elliette

Elliette is an elaborated spelling of Elliot, a name that came through a surname and a medieval familiar form of Elias. Elias belongs to the Elijah family, whose Hebrew meaning is traditionally understood as my God is Yahweh. The newer spelling therefore sits within a much older name family, even though its appearance feels distinctly modern.

The -ette ending gives Elliette a visibly different finish from Elliot or Elliott. It can also lead readers to place the emphasis differently, so a family's preferred pronunciation is useful to hear rather than assume. Parents may be drawn to the way Elliette preserves the recognizable opening of Elliot while creating a longer written form. Its spiritual meaning comes from the inherited Elias connection, not from the added ending.
