Elyon

Elyon is a Hebrew word meaning high or uppermost, especially familiar in the divine title El Elyon, usually translated God Most High. Its most important biblical role is as an epithet or title rather than as the personal name of a human character. The meaning carries an idea of elevation or supremacy.

As a modern given name, Elyon may appeal through its religious significance or its resemblance in sound to other El names. That similarity does not make it a shortened form of Elijah or Elliot, which have different histories. A family choosing Elyon is drawing on a sacred expression with a particular place in Hebrew scripture and prayer. Understanding that title-based background provides more context than the short translation alone.
