Ezri

Ezri is a Hebrew name meaning “my help.” It shares the root associated with help found in Ezra, but it is an attested name in its own right. The final sound belongs to its particular Hebrew form, so Ezri can be understood directly rather than only as a modern alteration of the better-known Ezra.

In 1 Chronicles, Ezri son of Chelub supervises workers farming the land within King David’s administration. It is a brief appearance, yet it gives the name a concrete biblical bearer and a distinctive connection with the practical work of the kingdom. Modern families use Ezri for both boys and girls. Its short spelling combines that contemporary flexibility with a much older textual history and a concise, personal meaning.
