Faith

Faith is an English word name expressing trust or belief. It belongs to the tradition of virtue names, which became especially visible among English-speaking Puritans. For some families its appeal is explicitly religious; for others, the everyday idea of confidence and trust is the more personal connection.

Country singer Faith Hill is a familiar bearer. Unlike names whose meanings depend on translating an ancient root, Faith carries its meaning directly into an English-speaking conversation. Its single syllable can sit comfortably beside a longer surname or middle name, and it works as a complete first name without a nickname.
