Felicia

Felicia comes from the Latin name family of Felix, meaning fortunate or happy. More specifically, it is the feminine form of Felicius, a Roman name built from that root. Its optimistic meaning is therefore part of its linguistic history, rather than a modern personality description added to the name.

The name has traveled through several European languages, so its pronunciation and familiar short forms can differ between families. That international use is part of its appeal: the same spelling can connect relatives with different language backgrounds. Felix makes the shared root easy to recognize, while forms such as Felice show how the family changes across languages. Felicia keeps the longer feminine ending and a direct association with happiness and good fortune.
