The story behind the name
Finn is a name with enormous energy and charm, that of the greatest hero of Irish mythology, Finn MacCool (aka Fionn mac Cuumhaill), an intrepid warrior with mystical supernatural powers, noted as well for his wisdom and generosity. Additionally, it has its roots in Old Norse, used to refer to someone from Finland.
Notable bearers include Finn Wolfhard, the star of Stranger Things and Finn Cole of Peaky Blinders.
Other up-and-comers in the same family: Finlay and Finley, Finian and Finnian, Finnegan and Finnigan, and, from Germany, Fynn. And then there are the Ph versions such as Phineas.
