Gadiel

Gadiel is a form of Gaddiel, a Hebrew biblical name traditionally understood as “God is my fortune.” In Numbers, Gaddiel is listed among the men sent to explore Canaan. That textual connection gives the name a documented biblical history, separate from later angelic associations sometimes attached to similar spellings.

Gad offers a short form, while Gaddiel preserves the spelling found in many English Bible translations. The name’s final el is a recognizable element in numerous Hebrew names referring to God. Parents may choose Gadiel for a family connection or religious significance, with the preferred spelling and pronunciation reflecting the language tradition they want to keep.
