Georgina

Georgina is a feminine form of George, a name derived from Greek georgos, meaning a farmer or worker of the earth. The meaning comes from the older occupational word, not from a place called Georgia. Georgina shares that origin with Georgia, Georgiana, and other feminine forms while keeping its own recognizable ending.

The ina ending makes Georgina longer than Georgia and different in rhythm from Georgiana. These names can honor the same George-family connection without being interchangeable spellings. Georgina has an established history in English naming, so its formal appearance is not a recent decorative invention. When comparing the forms, it is useful to say each in full: the extra syllables change how it sits beside a surname.
