Giorgia

Giorgia is the Italian feminine counterpart of Giorgio and belongs to the George name family. Its ancient Greek root, georgos, means a farmer or someone who works the earth. The Italian gi spelling represents the opening sound in a way that differs visually from English Georgia while preserving the same underlying name.

Italian singer Giorgia Todrani, known professionally as Giorgia, provides a recognizable musical association. The name also sits alongside other established Italian feminine forms such as Giulia and Gianna, though each has its own separate origin. For a family honoring a George, Giorgio, or Georgia, Giorgia offers a direct linguistic connection. Its agricultural meaning comes from the older Greek vocabulary, while the spelling itself reflects Italian naming practice.
