Gisselle

Gisselle is a spelling variation of Giselle, which comes from the Germanic Gisela name family. The older root refers to a pledge or hostage, reflecting a historical use of the word rather than a description of the person carrying the name. Pledge is the more familiar concise interpretation today.

The ballet Giselle gives the name family a strong association with dance and Romantic storytelling. Gisselle’s doubled s distinguishes this spelling from the ballet title while keeping the recognizable name. Gisela makes the older Germanic form more visible. For families comparing these names, the differences are chiefly linguistic and written; they do not create separate meanings such as grace or beauty.
