Goldie

Goldie is associated with the English word gold and with Yiddish names such as Golde and Golda. That gives it both a direct word-name meaning and a possible family or cultural connection. The ie ending makes it look like a familiar form, but Goldie has also been used as a complete given name.

Golde and Golda are useful comparisons when preserving the Yiddish naming tradition matters. Goldie keeps a two-syllable English sound and needs no longer official version. Its history includes use well before the present generation, so a family may be reviving an ancestor's name rather than creating a new nickname from the color or metal.
