Iver

Iver is a Norwegian form of Ivar, from the Old Norse name Ívarr. The first element is associated with the yew tree, whose wood was valued for bows. The second is usually interpreted as a warrior element, producing the traditional explanation yew warrior, although details of that older element are debated.

Ivar keeps another familiar Scandinavian spelling, while Iver gives the name a different final vowel in writing. Families may choose it to preserve a Norwegian ancestor's name or a broader Scandinavian connection. English speakers may also recognize the letters from Bon Iver, but the band's French phrase has a separate history. That resemblance is a modern association, not the source of the personal name.
