Jada

Jada is commonly used as an elaboration of Jade, the gemstone name. Separately, Jada appears as a masculine Hebrew name in the Bible, traditionally understood as “he knows.” The gemstone name and the biblical name have different origins, so the meaning depends on which history a family intends. Jada is not simply the Spanish dictionary word for jade.

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith helped make the modern feminine form widely recognizable. Jayda and Jaida are related spellings that make the long first vowel more visible to English readers. Jade offers a shorter everyday option. Parents drawn to gemstones can choose Jada for a fuller two-syllable sound while keeping the natural association central to its story.
