Jahziel

Jahziel is a Hebrew biblical name commonly understood as “God apportions” or “God divides.” In First Chronicles it appears among the sons of Naphtali. The related spelling Jahzeel occurs in other biblical passages. This family line descends from Jacob and Bilhah, so describing Jahziel as a grandson of Leah would confuse the genealogy.

Jaziel is another related spelling, and Jaz offers a brief informal option. Jahziel should also be distinguished from Jahaziel, a similar-looking biblical name with a different construction and meaning. Parents considering it may appreciate a specific scriptural connection without choosing a more familiar biblical name. The sequence of vowels and consonants makes a spoken introduction useful, especially when relatives are used to different Bible translations or transliteration systems.
