Jaqueline

Jaqueline is a spelling of Jacqueline, the feminine form developed from French Jacques. Jacques belongs to the James and Jacob family, whose Hebrew background is traditionally connected with the heel and with the idea of supplanting. Those interpretations are tied to the biblical Jacob story rather than to a prediction about a child's character.

Jaqueline omits the c found in Jacqueline and is also familiar in Portuguese-language use. The longer name family includes the highly recognizable Jacqueline spelling, but a family's own language or records may favor Jaqueline. The relationship with Jacques gives it a clear historical foundation, while the feminine ending has allowed the name to develop its own identity across languages.
